Rainy Day Play Ground

Why not go to Home Depot (”hardware store” as Robby says) on a rainy day in BG to test out all the tractors, lawnmowers, outdoor furniture and swings?

That was today. After 3 days of 80 degree weather…..we didn’t know what to do with ourselves!

Bath time moment later tonight: Momma plops wind-up swimming froggy in the tub and he takes off across the water. I asked Robby where he was going. He said: “Froggy’s going church!”  Of course.

Cookie Craziness

We just did a publicity move with Bowling Green’s famous “Cookie Jar” – our local hotspot that makes and delivers (with milk!) cookies all warm and yummy right to your door. The students love it.

Cru paired up with them and wanted to make a “Cookies for a Cause” extravaganza where you can donate at least a dollar to one of 3 charities and receive a cookie and milk. Cru Staff were working the table and we also had a human gyroscope (I had to look that up), a blow-up obstacle course and 4 bands that played from 3-7pm on Friday.

Celebrity shot!

Rob is taking 9 students and another staff to Malawi for 12 days this Spring – this is the suitcase they were raising funds in and are going to take over with them to give to those in need.

Sometimes Robby is too quick for the camera….

There it is, Tommy in the human gyroscope!

1 Hour Projects

I’m into them as a mom. What’s a one-hour project that can be done, start to finish, in 60 minutes? This is what I ask myself silently, when I am craving creativity, as I am thinking through my nap time usage or Robby’s attention span to “just be near me” and not be read to or be in a tent with or….

Here’s one: I’ve wanted to update his room since he became a toddler and we took down the sweet mosquito net that hung over his crib. So, with the mocha painted room – what better than a white tree with perched paper birds?

Nature’s Neighborhood

We went to the Zoo today and I love seeing Nature’s Neighborhood under construction for 2 big reasons: Rob is doing ALL of the commercial work (yes, everything, filming, drawing, you name it…here’s more with the Toledo Zoo he’s done – look at #2: Here) Also, guess whose voice is at the end of that spot?

And the second reason is that Robby is going to LOVE the new educational learning and play area. We just got our pass today!

This gecko got an “Oooohhh” from Robby for a whie. And we passed a duck that was a few feet from the kids by the elephants and Robby kept saying: “I hold it? I hold it??”  Sorry, buddy. Maybe later.

Compost and Sandbox: Spring has arrived

Spring is in the air and my husband is in the backyard. He has built 3 compost barrels that turn (because his wife talked a guy in the Wal-Mart parking lot to dropping off some old unused drums to her house for free). He also, for a few hours on Saturday, decided to build Robby his first crafted gift – a pretty sizable sandbox.

Wanna come play? Room for all!
