The Stomach Flu + Strep Throat = Early November

We got hit.

Hard.

But now it’s all a vague, creamy dream. One week. Stomach flu all around. (Ever heard a grown man lose his lunch?…eek.) And then Strep for Robby and I just 3 days later. “Come on, Man!” As Chris Berman might say on Monday nights.

We survived…and dare I say…thrived? I had a speaking engagement 1 day after my head was in the toilet at the OSU Fall Retreat for their Cru in Columbus. I rose up, spoke, spent myself, and then felt my ears ringing and my throat aching to the beat of Strep Throat.

But we are all better now.

Really.

You can come over.

Seriously.

I’ve lysoled, cleaned, wiped, mopped……

(Me: speaking at OSU’s retreat 2 days after flu)

(Me and Robby: the next day after retreat…cold items for throats were the best)

Italy Sold; Zambia Hope

It has turned out to be a very fruitful show….thank you, Madhouse Creative (befriend them on facebook!) for hosting me.

“Italy” has just sailed away….(after a friend called and in a perfectly gentle yet definitive way decided she would have the painting)…to a great newly wed home.

(I hesitate to say this as I run the risk of patting me on the back or something, but I want the word to be spread…) I am giving money from my sales to a beautiful organization called: Zambia Hope: Check it out video here. Rob was in Malawai, Africa and at the same time another friend went to Zambia this summer. And from our friend’s visit he started a non-profit to give more beds to these 32 orphans who between them had 3 beds. They now have electricity as of Monday in the orphanage and will get a refrigerator soon for milk and eggs to allow them more than one meal (sometimes none) a day. They are in SUCH need.

So as Italy is sold…Zambia is given a little bit more hope. If you’d like to help out this season to Zambia, let me know.

“Italy”

Picasso

I have always told Rob that I hope our children really love to make art and like to compete…among other things, of course. Here’s proof of one. The other…..well….he likes to “race” around the circle of our house every now and then. I’m sure it’s in there somewhere.

(The “among other things” category is one where I would love for our children to be ones of faith. Of hope. And most importantly of love. Have you heard my boy sing “Come Thou Fount”? He knows every single word.)

Pro Bass Shop: The new indoor playtime

Have you not heard? Do you not know? We didn’t. But I suspected….so we thought we’d try. And we came upon: bears, fish, waterfalls, boats, a cafe, electronic trains, remote control cars, coloring tables, game tables, Santa’s wonderland (already, I know, I know), kid-size landrovers…..

This place is big and fun and crazy. I think Robby and Sophia sat, gabbed and played in a huge, yellow boat for a half hour while Baby Maggie slept and we chattered away. These moments is when being a mostly stay at home mom seems posh. They had a blast at this unconventionally child-fun place. And it’s in P-burg – just half way for a Toledo friend rendezvous!

We met up with our hubbies for lunch and enjoyed some super yummy reubens and soup. The Holiday Season felt officially here.
