Indianapolis, and again, Indianapolis

Rob and I have spent time in Indianapolis for two weekends this month. I was invited to speak at a regional student and staff conference titled: “Every Student Sent.” And Robby went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house in Toledo for it. He’s back there again, right now, as we are in Indy for “Greek Conference” where men and women from sororities and fraternities are here who want to grow in their relationships with God and want to take back these things to their campus. I spoke this morning, this afternoon and then I will speak with my co-speaker, Michael, tonight. It’s quite a ride – but it’s been fruitful so far. One more session tonight.

So Rob and I are missing our little man. Here’s a sweet photo that was taken for a potential painting by a student…

A weekend with Ga-Ma and Ga-Pa

Haven’t posted in a while. It’s been a whirlwind. Part of the whirliness has been prepping for a few speaking engagements during naps or in the margins of motherhood. I just spoke at a regional conference called “Every Student Sent” in Indianapolis. I can post it when I get a link – they recorded it.

In order to do these speaking events, my parents are taking Robby for these weekends – what a job! He was there last weekend and learned phrases such as: “watch golf?” and “nice putt.” And has continued to talk about his grandparents since he got home.

We were playing down at Sandy’s house (who usually has some great old school vintage toys) the day after his weekend and I cracked up when we saw this figure and Robby said: “Ga-Pa!”  The picture below is a spitting image. Notice the reflective spot. And is Ga-Pa on the potty? I think so.

Birthday Bonanza

My friend and sweet running partner, Ruth, just turned another year older yesterday. No need to mention the age – but I will mention the birthday bonanza she had that day. She had a series of envelopes that had to be opened at specific windows of time leading her to lunch with a friend then a pedicure, then coffee with friends, some gifts and then a trip from Ohio to New York City for dinner!

Ok, the Big Apple part is a lie – but the rest of it was true and fun!

We met up with her as her husband watched our kids so we could all have coffee – and the drinks were on him! It was as if I was having a birthday with that kind of treatment!

I wanted to make Ruth a special little homemade gift so I put together some watercolor stationary for her to enjoy. Thought you might to. Cheers to made-with-love gifts!

Winter Moments

There have been a few snow days ’round here and our friends down the lane have had some days off. Lucky for Robby. On one of those lucky days, Nia (who Robby is kind of obsessed with, 6 years old) made a “telephone” out of straws. Who wouldn’t?

Daddy even had a snow day from work that day – I75N was just horrible. I caught my boys in a moment….yay for snowed-in lazy fun.
