Session 3

Take one look around our culture, at our stress levels, our anxiety, and our sickness and we know we are starved for rest. We are exhausted, overwhelmed, overworked. We weren’t designed to just keep going. We weren’t designed to trust ourselves. We weren’t designed to rescue ourselves. We need a rhythm of work and rest. But taking an entire day to rest from hustle each week, taking an entire day to set aside the pushing and proving and producing, from being your own safety net—is about one big trust fall into God’s arms. It is what the sabbath is designed for. But do we trust God and His character enough to rest? Do we trust Him to take care of us—to provide for us—if we put it all down and play, and enjoy nature, and leave the work for one whole day? So this week in our study we are looking at the Sabbath. How it started, why it was commanded, what Jesus did with it, and our call now as New Testament believers.
